Day 2 - Best of the Barossa
Next morning we take the scenic route into the famous Barossa Valley. The Barossa Valley is South Australia's best known wine region and home to the largest wine companies in Australia. The landscape is interwoven with the unmistakable presence of rich Germanic/Silesian culture and heritage. This is a wine lovers tour that includes lunch at Vintners restaurant or a gourmet picnic and visits to leading wineries such as Rockford, Yalumba, and Henschke. If time permits, we will call into Maggie Beers Farm Shop, a must-see for lovers of fine food. Transfer to your accommodation or back into the city or Airport, or continue your wine journey through to , The Louise or Abbottsford Country House in the heart of the Barossa and dine in-house.
Day 3 - A taste of the Clare Valley
The Clare Valley has a rich heritage originating from the English, Irish and Polish settlers who arrived in the 1840s. Viticulturally, Clare is classified as moderately warm to cool, similar to the Alsace, Burgundy and Rheingau regions. The area has been described as the most unblemished wine region in Australia. We travel from the Barossa through rolling farm country to the Clare Valley. Tours feature the Sevenhills winery run by the Jesuits, a visit to Kilakanoon winery and lunch at the charming Skillogalee restaurant or similar. Late afternoon, return to Adelaide with options to visit attractions such as the old slate mining town of Mintaro and stately Martindale Hall.

The Tour
This tour is flexible and offers a total grand experience for the wine and food lover. The Tour departs Melbourne or Adelaide and features some of the fine South Australian and Victorian wine regions. It visits the beautiful Coonawarra wine region, home to some of Australia's best Cabernet Sauvignons, which many wine tours leave out. Highlights include meeting the Coonawarra wine producers such as Bowen, Balnaves and Wynns wineries and travelling along the spectacular Great Ocean Road. We stay overnight at the stately Padthaway Estate or similar .
Days 1 & 2
Travel via wineries of Geelong or the Mornington Peninsula, travelling by ferry over to Queenscliff at the end of the day (or next morning) to spend your second day along the Great Ocean Road and overnight at Oscars or similar in Port Fairy.
Days 3 & 4
Travel through the Coonawarra and Padthaway wine regions then through rich dairy country to McLaren Vale.
We will overnight at Willunga House and spend our fourth day tasting wine and delighting in the fine foods of the region. Highlights will be lunch at the Salopian Inn and visits to such wineries as Wirra Wirra, Coriole and d'Arenberg. We will also visit the Olive Grove renown for its extra virgin olive oil and olives. Tonight we dine at the exemplary Magill Estate restaurant after a twilight tasting tour and a Penfolds Grange tasting.
Day 5
Travel through the Adelaide Hills wine region with highlights such as Petaluma, Shaw and Smith and Hahndorf Hill wines just out of the charming German village of Hahndorf. We will also include lunch at the exemplary Bridgewater Mill (or similar). That evening we will stay at Abbottsford Country House or Peppers, the Louise or Jacobs Creek Retreat in the Barossa and dine with a special gourmet degustation menu in-house.
Day 6
We commences with some exploring of the homestead then takes us into the renowned Barossa Valley for lunch at the charming Barr Vinum Restaurant. Highlights in the Barossa include visits to Torbreck, Henscke and Peppers Lehmann wineries. That evening travel to Sevenhills to the charming Skillogalee House or North Bundaleer homestead, for another special dining experience.
Day 7
Further opportunity to experience the best of the wines and hospitality of Clare, by walking over to the historic Sevenhills Cellars after breakfast and visiting some of the fine wine producers in Clare such as Knappsteins, Mount Horrocks and Mitchells. Wewill dine at the rustic Skillogalee winery. You may choose to cycle or walk along the famous Riesling trail to balance or the fine food and wines. We return to Adelaide that evening.
